The USB Host Shield based on the MAX3421E allows you to connect a Arduino board to a USB device . It is is a USB peripheral/host controller containing the digital logic and analog circuitry. It works with standard dual 5/3.3V board and 3.3V-only for Arduino Pro boards. It has inbuilt reset button and supports HID devices such as keyboard , mouse also Mass storage devices such as USB sticks and many more. It also support android mobile phone . USB HOST mode and USB HUB protocol.
